The Fire

Just after 10pm on Thursday, March 21, our smoke detectors warned us of "smoke in the basement".  The specific cause is TBD (tests being performed at labs), but they can tell it started right near/above a tankless hot water heater, which is also right next to where the natural gas line branches off in multiple directions.  Fortunately everyone was able to get out safely, but - long story short - the fire quickly spread through the main floor, up the walls, and into the attic... eventually making its way through virtually every room.

Even in the few areas where burn damage is not catastrophic, the smoke and water damage is still extensive.  Many sections of flooring and stairwells are now missing or weakened.  Since it is difficult for people to walk inside, we've taken as many photos as possible for future reference.  Just a few will be posted here.
